Glynn Burrows
English Historian, Family History Buff & Owner of
Norfolk Tours in
England
I'm Glynn and I live in the middle of Norfolk, on the East Coast of England. I'm married to Diane who works at the local Primary School as a teaching assistant and we have two adult children; Verity, our daughter, a teacher of Mathematics at a local High School and Edmond, our son, who works in the Civil Service.
I grew up in a small village in Norfolk, where my parents still live and, although
I have travelled quite extensively around Europe, and even worked in France for a
while, I always returned to my native Norfolk village because I felt so connected
to the area. The feeling of belonging always puzzled me until I discovered, that
my Mother's family had, in fact, been living in that village for centuries and the
house where I grew up, is only about 300 yards from where my 5X great grandparents
were living in 1778, and just up the road from the Church where some of my direct
ancestors were married in 1620. I had played in the same fields as my ancestors and
knew the same lanes and even some of the same buildings, so I couldn't help but feel
that connection and became fascinated with my local and family history. My family
history was also my local history, they were inextricably interconnected.
Sharing my love of history is now what I do, in my writing, talking or introducing
it to other people. I am passionate about my surroundings and it is amazing how many
others begin to share that passion when they have their eyes opened to what is around
them.
If you are considering taking a holiday or learning more about your family
history in England, why not use Norfolk Tours. I don't just do tours of Norfolk,
I can take you where you want to go and show you what you want to see.
